maybe I should have worn protective mittens

I learned to ski this weekend. I fell down a lot and got snow down my snowpants and rode the magic carpet up the bunny slope and barely avoided crashing into a carload of five-year-old snowboarders.

It was fun. (or rather, it became fun after a while.)

However, I have injured myself upon the ski slopes. I sprained my thumb.

If there's a dorkier injury than a sprained thumb, I don't know what it is.

So I'll just let that part of my body join the chorus of limbs in this household and discover what it's like to live without opposable thumbs. (Hint: typing is a pain.)

That's good to know--it also clarifies what I did, because the only description I could give was "I fell. And then it hurt." But it's healing nicely, and aside from general "fell-down-the-hill" aches and pains (which are standard model for skiing, I understand), all is well with me.
