strom thurmond and extra stuff
Evening all. After a very eventful weekend that involved IKEA, DaMan's family, and more heavy lifting than I expected, I'm taking a moment to inventory a few things.
You see, I have too much stuff. Again. And while some of it--old shoes, Garment District jackets, and so on--is headed for the donation barrel (or the trash, depending on quality), some of it really ought to be offered a chance at a new home. I thought I'd start by seeing if any of y'all wanted it.
I hate getting rid of books, but I really just don't read these anymore.
Maia, by Richard Adams
Mysteries of Winterthurn, Joyce Carol Oates
The Steerswoman's Road, Rosemary Kirstein
The Chalice and The Man in the Moss, Philip Rickman
Cute, Quaint, Hungry, and Romantic, Daniel HArris
The Textile Colorist, Faber Birren
The Black Cauldron, Lloyd Alexander (I do read this--but I have another copy!)
The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency, Alexander McCall Smith
The Start of the End of It All and Report to the Mens' Club, Carol Emshwiller
A romance novel titled "Emily". Doesn't have any good racy bits...
A nice blank address book with flowers on it.
Skin Tight, Carl Hiaasen
A Man Rides Through, Stephen R. Donaldson (another duplicate)
Dune, Frank Herbert (and again)
Ender's Shadow, Orson Scott Card
Teklords, William Shatner. Please take it away or I shall burn it.
Z for Zachariah, Robert O'Brien
Infinity's Shore, David Brin
Contact, Carl Sagan
The Girl in a Swing, Richard Adams
The Martian Chronicles, Ray Bradbury (I still have my copy from the book club!)
Fear of Flying, Erica Jong
Two pretty wicker baskets, each too small to comfortably carry Oob. One has picnic-style lids, and the other has handles.
Fleece mittens--red/purple/yellow.
Two three-pound hand weights.
Small speakers, designed to be plugged in to a discman. Probably would work with an IPod, but I'm not certain. Cheap, non-battery-powered. I used them when going to summer contracts without a stereo.
Two wine glasses.
A large coffee mug--the narrow kind that looks like a tumbler with a handle--with cats on it.
A couple of Ball jars.
A small black bookcase, three shelves.
A long narrow black set of two shelves, about 2' by 5'.
A white chest of drawers with pseudo-Southwestern designs.
An unfinished armoire/wardrobe thing--tall, with a place for a hanging bar.
I'm willing to mail or deliver books and small items, but the larger stuff is really more than I can deal with. If you want any of the furniture, you'll have to come get it. Comment or email and let me know if you'd like any of this! I will do further description (measurements, color, etc) if you want them for a specific item.
I briefly called in to Trivia this weekend, since I was too wussy to stay up all night and THEN go to Ikea at 6am. I made a guest appearance as "If the answer isn't Strom Thurmond, you're not asking the right question." (Hi
ltlbird!!)

--You'll have to come pick the furniture up. I recommend a truck or large-space car.
--The chest of drawers is really ugly. Functional, but ugly.
But let me know when you'd like to come by!
