Some of you know that I send out a semi-regular Sewing Circle and Resistance Society email. It's basically a list of links to ways you can help; local actions, places to donate, ways to make an impact, upcoming rallies or protests, and so on. 

I'm not writing here much anymore, alas.

But I am writing elsewhere, somewhere that isn't Facebook. In order to keep my religion-heart going while I work in another field, I'm posting twice-weekly entries to Prose Gods, https://prosegods.wordpress.com/ .

I just finished Godless Week with the Riddle-Master of Hed and might, if I've got the brain for it, tackle round one of Good Omens for Friday.

And a little more detailed:
I checked out the latest Stephen R. Donaldson book via my iPod Touch (whoa, I am in the future now) and am reading it bit by bit. And somehow, it's exactly what I need.

On one hand, I think this book is showing all his weaknesses in big capital letters: the language sends me running for a dictionary (surquedry? wtf?) and the first few chapters have consisted almost entirely of people standing around making expository speeches.

On the other hand, SRD touches some need within me, some resonance with the moral themes of his work, bleak and uncompromising though they may be. Trust. Love. Loyalty. The need to stand against "the dictates of despair." I need that now; that rejection of the self-loathing and emptiness that despair brings. The idea that sometimes it is simply enough to reject despair, even if we don't have the strength to do more.

Now if only the language weren't so...clenched.

Seeing old friends over lunch and tea.
Wrapping up fieldwork.
Giggly Frog.

Day 5:
Reading The Master and Margarita.

Playing Ars Magica and swearing at the manual once more. And letting out my inner crankmeister as my main character. Also, GROG PIT!

Sure, there's a formal meme-text that goes with this. I am uninterested in taking the time to look it up. And since there are big good things in my life, I thought I'd focus on the small good things a bit, partly to get me writing, partly to get me back on LJ, and partly to refocus from the sleepy slump I've been in lately. So here is Day 1 of N Days of Small Good Things:

Day 1: Meeting a fluffy puppy on the bus into work this morning. Bus was uncrowded, puppy was eager and friendly and licked my hands.

...have another Christmas moment.

My favorite holiday special is not available on DVD or video (licensing stuff) but the magic of Youtube lets me watch it anyway.
