It's happened.
Jul. 23rd, 2007 04:56 pmMy religious-studies geekdom has become my alpha geekdom.
Exhibit A: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, purchased this morning. Unread. Unopened. Untouched.
Exhibit B, C, and D: Jonathan Z. Smith's Imagining Religion: From Babylon to Jonestown, Map Is Not Territory by the same author, and Clifford Geertz's The Interpretation of Cultures.
Since purchasing Exhibit A, I have:
--summarized Exhibit B in my summer-notes file
--reviewed two chapters and read one chapter of Exhibit C
--and read the first chapter of Exhibit D, fully intending to finish another three chapters before setting it aside tonight.
I'd like to say this demonstrates my willpower to do work, but really? It just reveals my dominant geek tendency.
ETA, five hours later: No more willpower! I give in! No sleep for me tonight!
