My laptop is...contrary.
Occasionally, power flow to the keyboard will just stop dead. Apparently all it needs is either a) time to rest, or b)a good whack.

Anyway. Here's the entry I was writing when it died, died, died.

I've been fairly anxious about posting this meme, because it is, in effect, asking for stuff. And I dislike the idea of begging, or *strongly hinting*...

...but, really, I love the feeling of being able to act on someone else's wishlist. ([livejournal.com profile] 2h2o, you will have some cds to claim!) And so I want to see more of them. With tangible or intangible wishes, with stuff I can help with and stuff I can't...

Anyway. Here is the wishlist meme!

Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

1) Lunch dates with people I haven't seen in a long time. I want one-on-one time to catch up, especially since I'm so bad at keeping in touch in general.
2) Amusing postcards.
3) Recommendations for good political books. No Michael Moore please.
4) Someone to sit down and geek out with, who isn't in my Wednesday night game; dinner and the ability to bounce ideas around. I've lost track of some threads, and I feel unfocused. I want to sit down and talk out "If you were an evil warlord/sorcerer, what would you do?"
5) A paid LJ account.
6) Fun icons to go with above. Feel free to send even if I haven't got a paid one; they will be stored against the Day.
7) Adequate time and reminders to send love to people who need it. Regardless of whether I know them or not.
8) A long backrub. Say, twenty minutes.
9) An occasional poke to write an essay.
10) Velvet scraps. Lots and lots of velvet scraps. Hell, scrap fabric of any kind. Perhaps you may find it returned to you in even cooler form.
