Interviews?
Jun. 28th, 2005 07:24 amAs a budding religion student, who's still trying to figure out her own faith...
I would like to start interviewing people about their views on religion, spirituality, and faith. I'll be tape-recording these interviews, and they'd probably last around an hour, hour-and-a-half, or till I run out of tape. I don't want to debate or have you 'prove' your beliefs; I want to know what you believe, perhaps why you believe it, what you think of others' beliefs, and what you find valuable or horrible in your own or others' ideas.
I want to speak with everyone. Old, young, devout, secular, pagan, Presbyterian, lapsed, everyone. I'm new to this, and I don't have a set use for these interviews. I just want to start collecting stories and viewpoints. I want to start getting a better picture of the ways we think about faith today, and I need more than the inside of my head.
If you are interested, and you either live in the Greater Boston area or one of my usual haunts (hallo, Berkshires), post a comment and I'll contact you about scheduling a time. You can also reach me at ooblet at gmail dot com, in case you don't want to comment. The interviews might take place at my home, or your place, or some neutral ground (without too much ambient noise).
I don't have a standard 'bribe' to offer as well--I'll buy you coffee, or come with cookies, or fix you dinner, for the honor of hearing your story.
Any takers?
ETA: Sending scheduling emails will have to wait till this evening, after work and my first summer-school class. So don't panic if I can't reply till then...
