low, flying planes
Oct. 31st, 2008 02:58 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
I'm in the airport on my way to the AAR, with a few hours to kill before my flight to Chicago. It's a beautiful day, and the planes are taking off right in front of my window. I'm not quite yet ready, I think, to be saturated with nollij, but I'll be there by the first session tomorrow.
For a few reasons that don't bear explaining on Livejournal, I am pretty low. Therefore, I am making a blatant plea for internet sympathy and combining it with a distraction technique.
So here's my offer.
If you comment, I will reply to your comment with one of three things:
--a costume item that suits you
--a happy memory of you
--a haiku based on a topic you suggest.
Of course, replies may be delayed till I can find some available Chicago webbernets, but I promise a reply to all of them.
And now, I'm going to eat my damn Butterfinger.

Date: 2008-10-31 07:19 pm (UTC)And here's a haiku "found" from a Very Bad Poem.
We have seen the Best
Of cheese, lying gently at its
ease, smelling like feet
wait, it didn't include that line...

Long-distance sympathy from a local area code...
Date: 2008-10-31 07:12 pm (UTC)Here's a distraction I can offer: while you are flying, take the time to enjoy the clouds. They're freakin' _beautiful_ from the air.

Date: 2008-10-31 07:24 pm (UTC)Unreachable landscape
Billowing swells and mist plains
Who would not walk there?

Date: 2008-10-31 07:12 pm (UTC)Mmm, Butterfinger. Enjoy that.

Date: 2008-10-31 07:26 pm (UTC)Hats are funny!
An elaborate jeweled turban, with a gem in the center like a hen's egg. Big swathes of gold and crimson silk, wrapped so much it looks like it's trying to eat your head.

Date: 2008-10-31 07:29 pm (UTC)I think you need elbow-length white gloves with white embroidery, tiny pearls all alng the hem and the edge. I think they need to have a design embroidered so subtly into the back that you can only tell it's there when the light slants just right. I think they need to have a tiny cutaway pattern in the palm of your hand.

A little unoriginal but it works, haikuwise.

Date: 2008-10-31 08:18 pm (UTC)Or, actually, what I'd like best is for you to get a big hug. It's hard to send those through the net, but be hugged.

Date: 2008-11-01 04:53 am (UTC)And I have a cat at the foot of my futon who's assiduously licking herself. That counts for a good .60 of hug.
Beadie is so cute. I'm sure after she sleeps on my face I'll be less happy, but right now she's so cute. She's half the size of Oob and extra cuddly!
My jetpack, you fools!
Its power is beyond your weak
comprehension!
For it is fueled not
by oil, gas, or such gauche things
but by pure SCIENCE!

Date: 2008-10-31 09:11 pm (UTC)I welcome all forms of silliness...PoC suggests a haiku about teenagers wearing lame costumes ("no, my Yankees hat *is* my costume") trick-or-treating, but you may not find that to be very workable!

Date: 2008-11-01 05:16 am (UTC)I still think you need a thing...perhaps a costume thing...perhaps a lace mantilla, black, spanish-style, with carefully handmade work and a high comb to hold it in place.
