I'm in the airport on my way to the AAR, with a few hours to kill before my flight to Chicago. It's a beautiful day, and the planes are taking off right in front of my window. I'm not quite yet ready, I think, to be saturated with nollij, but I'll be there by the first session tomorrow.

For a few reasons that don't bear explaining on Livejournal, I am pretty low. Therefore, I am making a blatant plea for internet sympathy and combining it with a distraction technique.

So here's my offer.
If you comment, I will reply to your comment with one of three things:
--a costume item that suits you
--a happy memory of you
--a haiku based on a topic you suggest.

Of course, replies may be delayed till I can find some available Chicago webbernets, but I promise a reply to all of them.

And now, I'm going to eat my damn Butterfinger.

*hug* Have an awesome time at AAR! I think you are fabulous.

(And I would happily accept your suggestion of a costume item; a happy memory; or a haiku on the subject of cheese.)

Ioka Valley Farm. I had maple on pancakes yesterday and thought of you, and Yao smuggling in the sugarfree syrup...

And here's a haiku "found" from a Very Bad Poem.

We have seen the Best
Of cheese, lying gently at its
ease, smelling like feet

wait, it didn't include that line...

You get the superfabulous one. Nettuno, in a Monteverdi Opera I did wardrobe for, had a giant circular cape--with its hem fully stretched, it covered a 10' radius, out of shimmering blue china silk. For you, I offer a version of the same, but in greens and greens and greens.

Here's a distraction I can offer: while you are flying, take the time to enjoy the clouds. They're freakin' _beautiful_ from the air.

Hats!
Hats are funny!

An elaborate jeweled turban, with a gem in the center like a hen's egg. Big swathes of gold and crimson silk, wrapped so much it looks like it's trying to eat your head.

I think you need gloves.
I think you need elbow-length white gloves with white embroidery, tiny pearls all alng the hem and the edge. I think they need to have a design embroidered so subtly into the back that you can only tell it's there when the light slants just right. I think they need to have a tiny cutaway pattern in the palm of your hand.

I have a picture of you, Nate Dean, and someone whose name I've forgotten, doing the "Hi! My Name is Joe!" dance in the Academy dining hall. You're really rocking out.

Which also reminds me of chopstick day and finger food day at the dining hall...

Wait, my boots didn't show up! I had written out a set of awesomeboots for you to wear! And for you to crush your enemies! Perhaps Logan's wifi is not what I might have hoped.

Instead of awesomeboots, I shall then outfit you with the special set of Sensible Mary Janes...designed by James Bond's Q. I wouldn't adjust that buckle while you're near anything flammable.

I got a lot of happy Germans, does that count?

And I have a cat at the foot of my futon who's assiduously licking herself. That counts for a good .60 of hug.

Beadie is so cute. I'm sure after she sleeps on my face I'll be less happy, but right now she's so cute. She's half the size of Oob and extra cuddly!

My jetpack, you fools!

Hey, aren't we supposed to give you things to cheer you up?

I think you need some serious 1920s flapper action. I think that it involves a perfect cloche hat with a fabulous feather, in a blue/gold combination, with fringe and beads and a totally punkass cigarette holder.

I'm betting you deserve the damn Butterfinger! On account of exceeding awesomeness!

Thanks. I appreciate the thought.

I still think you need a thing...perhaps a costume thing...perhaps a lace mantilla, black, spanish-style, with carefully handmade work and a high comb to hold it in place.
