I am sending out the call! My D&D campaign needs a new player--maybe two, if I can manage it. (For good reasons--two players are headed to graduate school!) Send this message on to any who might be interested--no posting online, please, it's already going to my lj--and I'll be making decisions when I return from Wisconsin. I welcome players with any level of experience with the system or roleplaying in general.

System: D&D 3.5

Meeting time and place: Weekly Wednesdays, 6:30 to 10:30 or so. Dinner provided before game, lasts about fortyfive minutes, about three hours of game time per session. Easily accessible by T or bus, parking is somewhat available, and apartment has one shorthair cat.

Setting: High fantasy, medievalish. Some postapocalyptic aspects, a la Dragonlance postCataclysm. Some restrictions on spells, creatures, etc.; very little inter-planar action. Developing city-states, wizard-y empire nearby, religions vary strength by region. More information on the world available on request.

Character restrictions/suggestions: Human, elves, dwarves, gnomes, or half-breeds (half-elf, half-dwarf, dwarf-elf, or shadow-blood) only. Any class; prestige classes must gain approval, and some classes will be limited to certain regions. (No barbarians from the center of the empire!) They could really use a rogue, or another fighter, but there's all kinds of leeway in creation. We'll settle on a method of integrating into the party during character generation.

Type of play: Although there are the usual dungeoncrawls, and the arc of the story is very much "small party against big odds to save the world", there are lots of interaction, intrigue, and non-combat situations. Examples: The party had to kidnap the young lord, evade capture, and reach the lake with him. The party discovered a plot to incinerate an entire city, and formed alliances/alerted people such that when the inevitable combat came, they were split up but not overwhelmed. The party had to do some detective footwork to learn why children were disappearing. I like good roleplaying, and am happy when a session is fulfilling without a single die roll--but I also love whacking things in combat. Expect to have your background messed with, plot hooks and random encounters of strange people.

Caveats: 1. I am a little slow with rules, and sometimes need to take time to look up stuff. 2. I enjoy minor tangents, but I do ask a degree of focus on the game during all-player scenes. 3. According to my players, I'm "an evil, evil woman."

Wish I could join in!!
But alas, remote playing just isn't the same.
