Query for those of you who write/read fanfiction:

Do the "pastiches" of Sherlock Holmes stories written in the early 20th century (by August Derleth and others) count as "fanfiction"? If so, are they one of the earliest examples of such? Or were there authors writing "New Adventures of the Count of Monte Cristo" or such? Or does fanfiction as a definition rest on the ability to self-publish, not for profit but for exchange?

Huh.

Good question. I'd say it's essentially the same enterprise as fan fiction, but the economy of it makes it a little different. It's more fanfiction to me, though, than, say, Queer As Folk or Angel paperbacks.

Pssst -- you doing anything Saturday? Looks like I'm gonna be in your neck of the woods -- email me! :)

eep?

I'd love to get together on Saturday...but I think all the emails I have of yours are defunct! (and I still lack your phone...) I'm free in the morning and afternoon, so give me a call or ping!
