Things I’ve done in the last year that I never expected to:
This is very tough! Does it have to be things I actively expected *not* to do, or just stuff that never crossed my mind before?
1. Kept my D&D game running for…what, three years now?
2. Played roulette in Atlantic City.
3. Thought about wedding planning. I had thought that someday I might get married, but I had never actually expected to plan something. (Bridesmaids! Find me paisley muumuus!)
4. Spent a year without going home. I think it has been a whole year since I’ve seen Portland.
5. Written up my experiences at two Samhain circles and published it online.
Things everyone should know about Jigglypuff:
1. Jigglypuff is a Balloon Pokemon.
2. Jigglypuff wishes to be called Puff Jiggly, or Puffy J. to reflect her new image.
3. Jigglypuff has no internal organs, only a kind of pinkish foam.
4. Jigglypuff’s song is the only thing that can lull Karl Rove to sleep and keep the nightmares away. She has been withholding this ever since the Abu Ghraib scandal, and it’s starting to show.
5. Jigglypuff is the only known entity that can kick Chuck Norris’ ass, and does so frequently.
Body parts:
I’m going to be non-TMI and only list my own.
1. My hands. It terrified me when I thought I was getting carpal tunnel. I need these hands.
2. Trapezius muscles: the perfect stress-o-meter. Am I more upset than I thought? Check the shoulders!
3. Neck and upper chest. I like looking like a cameo.
4. Naughty bits, because I ******* and ********* and then ************* ** ******* *******. That includes the ********** *** ***********.
5. Spleen, because it’s so much fun to say. Spleeeeeeen.
Alternate histories:
1. Last Call’s Fisher King in Las Vegas, and its attendant (but not really trilogy) books Expiration Date and Earthquake Weather.
2. The Deadlands history, with California falling into the sea and the hideous stalemate of the Civil War—that’s a good one.
3. Umberto Eco’s Baudolino, though it’s more a set of Prester John stories than an alternate history.
4. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Not the abysmal movie, but the comics.
5. Any history that explains the Great Hiatus.

Date: 2006-01-21 08:38 pm (UTC)I hadn't thought of this as an alternate history, but only as an esoteric bit of the "real" world. But it is beautifully done.
Any history that explains the Great Hiatus.
I am ignorant. Fill me with norant.

Date: 2006-01-22 06:35 am (UTC)I'm probably also not the first to suggest that if you ever wanted to try to get some of the stuff you're written for Toon published, Pyramid would be a logical market for it. But just in case I am, I shall throw temptation in your path...
